This is the bike I disappear on for a day. A GRX gravel bike, tubeless wheels so a thorn is not the end of the ride, bags for snacks and a layer, a GPS computer, and a real light for the ride home after the sun drops. Earn-your-beer miles, all day.

FAQ
Common questions about this kit
Why tubeless?
Sealant plugs small punctures instantly — no stopping, no tube swap. On gravel, where thorns and chips are everywhere, tubeless is the single biggest quality-of-life upgrade.
Gravel vs road bike?
Wider tires, more compliance, and lower pressure soak up chatter so you finish fresher. It is slower on pavement and far more capable everywhere else.
Do I need a GPS computer?
On routes you do not know, yes. Turn-by-turn on a bike computer beats a phone in a bag, and the battery outlasts any phone.
How much can the bags carry?
Frame plus bar bag holds a layer, snacks, tools, and water for a long day. Bikepacking overnight needs more — add a saddle bag.

Cross-training on the gravel rig once a week. Tubeless is the move, you are right.
