Common questions about this kit
Direct-drive or wheel-on?
Direct-drive. It is quieter, more accurate, and does not eat your rear tire. Wheel-on is cheaper but loud, slippery, and tire-shredding.
Smart trainer for Zwift?
A smart trainer gives automatic resistance (hills feel like hills). A dumb trainer works in erg mode only. For real simulation, smart.
Trainer tire required?
For a wheel-on setup, yes — road tires melt on a roller. For direct-drive (cassette), no — your wheel comes off.
Why a big fan?
Without wind, indoor riding overheats fast. A high-velocity fan on your chest is non-negotiable for any ride over 20 minutes.
User Reviews
Smart trainer is the engine I need for metcons — rower and bike are my cardio, this fills the winter gap. Direct-drive is the move.
Smart trainer setup is my gravel bike in winter form — direct-drive over wheel-on is exactly the call. The fan point is gospel.
