FAQ
Common questions about this kit
Full-frame over APS-C for portraits?
For the depth-of-field and skin tones, yes. An 85mm on full frame gives the classic compressed head-and-shoulders look that flatters faces.
One light or two?
Start with one — a single softbox teaches you direction and ratio. Add the second (fill or rim) once you can predict what a light will do.
Do I need a color checker?
For accurate, repeatable skin tones in post, yes. One frame per light setup and your white balance is locked forever.
Continuous or strobe?
Strobe. More power, freezes motion, and lets you shoot at base ISO at any aperture. Continuous is easier to preview but weaker.
