The travel kit I actually carry onto a plane. One compact body, two lenses (a 35mm prime for character and a 24-70 zoom for when you cannot use your feet), a travel tripod, and the memory and power to shoot all day. Nothing you do not use.

1FAQ
Common questions about this kit
Why a prime AND a zoom?
The 35mm prime is small, fast, and sharp — it lives on the camera. The zoom covers the framing you cannot walk to: busy streets, balconies, tight interiors.
Is a travel tripod worth it?
For long exposures, low light, and self-portraits, yes. A light one that packs small beats a sturdy one you leave at the hotel.
How many SD cards?
Two, and never one big card. A lost or failed card should not take the whole trip with it.
Do I need a filter?
A polarizer cuts glare on water and glass and saturates skies. Skip UV filters — they mostly protect the front element from your cleaning cloth.
User Reviews
Travel photography and one-bag travel are the same religion: nothing that does not earn its weight. The 35mm call is right.
Took the travel kit on a tennis road trip. The 35mm stayed on the camera all week.
