Garage Powerlifting Gym

The garage I built to squat, bench, and deadlift for keeps. A real power rack with safeties, an Olympic bar and bumper plates, a flat bench, and the support gear (belt, sleeves, chalk, collars) so the big lifts feel like the platform, not a compromise. Bolt it down and lift heavy.

FAQ

Common questions about this kit

Power rack or half rack?

Power rack, with adjustable safeties. For squatting heavy without a spotter, the safeties are the whole point — they catch the bar if you miss.

Bumper plates or iron?

Bumpers if you ever deadlift and set the bar down hard (or do Olympic lifts). Iron is cheaper per pound but chips and dents the floor and bar.

Do I need to bolt the rack down?

For pull-ups and heavy squats, yes — bolt it to concrete or use a quality platform, or the rack walks and tips on upright rows.

Lifting belt — necessary?

For heavy squats and deadlifts, a belt gives your core something to brace against. It is a technique aid, not a back protector.
