The kit to play classic games on real hardware. An original console (NES/SNES/Genesis), a flash cart loaded with the library, a CRT or a good upscaler to an HDTV, and original controllers. The CRT scanline is the authentic look; the flash cart is the whole library.

Common questions about this kit
Original hardware vs emulation?
Original for the authentic feel and zero-lag controllers; emulation for convenience and cost. A flash cart (EverDrive) on real hardware is the best of both — real console, real controllers, entire library on one cart.
CRT vs upscaler?
CRT for the authentic look (scanlines, zero lag, the art designed for it); an OSSFC/RetroTINK upscaler to HDTV for space and convenience. CRT purists and upscaler pragmatists both get the look right; pick by your space.
Flash cart?
Yes — a flash cart (EverDrive-style) loads every game for a console from an SD card, on real hardware, with real controllers. The $100 that replaces a $5000 cartridge collection and lets you actually play rare games.
Original controllers?
Yes — the controllers are half the feel; a USB replica is not the same. Refurbished originals (clean the contacts, replace the membranes) play like new and are the real experience.
User Reviews
Retro gaming and my battlestation share the real-hardware-and-original-controllers gospel — a flash cart on real hardware is the best of both. CRT or upscaler; the scanline is the look, agreed.
