Tournament Tennis Pro Kit

This is what I actually play tournaments with. A player frame (Pro Staff RF 97) strung poly-main / gut-cross — the tour-standard hybrid — Zoom Vapor shoes that grip and release, and a bag big enough for a restring on site. It rewards clean technique; if your strokes are not there yet, build them on the starter kit first.

FAQ

Common questions about this kit

Is a 97 square-inch frame too demanding?

It rewards a fast, clean swing. If your technique is not there yet you will frame the ball — drop to a 100 square-inch player frame first.

Why a poly/gut hybrid?

Polyester mains give spin and control on full swings; natural gut crosses add comfort and touch. It is the tour-standard blend.

How often should I restring?

A good rule: restring as many times per year as you play per week. Tournament players restring before every match.

Do I really need 30 overgrips?

Pros use one per match. A bulk pack is cheaper per grip and means you always have a tacky one ready.

Tour-level discipline. The restring rule — as many times per year as you play per week — applies to foam-rolling too.

Shot a tournament with a 35mm prime — exactly the tour-level discipline this kit preaches.

Carbon everything — I respect it. The poly/gut hybrid note is exactly the kind of detail I nerd out on.
