Yes — a tree sets far more fruit than it can carry to size; thinning (remove the excess, spacing what remains) gives bigger, better fruit and prevents biennial bearing (a heavy year, then a barren one).
Prop heavy limbs?
Yes — a heavy crop snaps limbs; prop them with T-posts or boards before they break. Better to thin earlier, but props are the save when a limb is already loaded.
Integrated pest management?
Yes — IPM (monitor, identify, intervene precisely) beats blanket spraying. Pheromone traps, dormant oil, and targeted sprays protect the bees and the fruit; a calendar spray kills the good bugs with the bad.
