Common questions about this kit
Headlamp over a handheld?
Yes — a headlamp points where you look and leaves both arms free for your stride. Aim it a few meters ahead and tilt the brim down to avoid blinding oncomers.
High-vis + active lights?
Both — passive reflective (vest, gear) catches headlights, and an active blinking light (clip or armband) makes you visible where there are no headlights. A driver seeing you is the whole game.
One ear or none?
One earbud at most, low volume — you need to hear cars, cyclists, and people. Situational awareness is safety at night; both ears in is a risk.
Tell someone the route?
Yes — share your route and ETA, run well-lit and familiar loops, and carry a phone. A check-in when you are back is the cheapest safety system there is.
User Reviews
Night-run kit and my marathon kit share the see-and-be-seen gospel — a headlamp plus high-vis and active lights, and tell someone the route. One earbud max, agreed.
