Lacrosse Starter Kit

Lacrosse is fast, physical, and built on one skill: the cradle. A properly strung stick with a pocket that throws and catches true, a helmet with a face mask, gloves that protect without killing feel, and a ball. Wall ball — throwing and catching against a wall for an hour — is how every player is made.

FAQ

Common questions about this kit

Attack, midfield, or defense stick?

The head and pocket differ by position — a shorter stick (40 in) for attack and midfield for ball control, a long pole (60 in) for defense for reach. Start with a mid-length stick and find your position, then buy position-specific.

Why is the pocket so personal?

The way the mesh holds the ball (the pocket depth and shape) determines how it throws — every player dials it to their release point. A factory pocket works, but a custom-strung pocket to your throw is a big step up.

Do I need all the pads to start?

For practice and wall ball, no — stick, gloves, and a helmet. For any contact or game, yes — arm pads, shoulder pads, and a mouthguard. Start light, gear up for contact.

What is wall ball?

Throwing and catching against a brick wall, 100 reps per hand, every day. It is boring, repetitive, and the single drill that builds the stick skills that win games. Every college player did it; there is no shortcut.

4.0 / 5.0

Lacrosse and my baseball share the wall-ball-makes-the-player gospel — a hundred reps against the wall is the same as soft-toss in the cage. A strung pocket to your throw is a broken-in glove to your hand, agreed.
