FAQ
Common questions about this kit
Raised beds vs in-ground?
Raised beds drain faster, warm sooner in spring, and spare your back. In sandy or rocky soil they are the difference between a garden and a frustration.
How much soil?
A 4x8 ft bed 12 inches deep needs about 1 cubic yard of soil each. Buy in bulk delivered for two or more beds; bags bankrupt you.
How often to water?
Seeds daily, established plants deeply two to three times a week. A deep soak grows deep roots; a daily sprinkle grows shallow ones that fry in heat.
What to plant first?
Radishes and lettuce for a fast win (30 days), tomatoes and peppers for the payoff, and herbs for near-instant gratification. Skip corn — it is not worth the space.
User Reviews
Raised-bed garden energy is family-camping energy: prep the beds like I prep the camp kitchen. The soil-in-bulk tip is real.
