The kit for a serious skater practicing jumps and spins. Stiff competition boots and mounted blades, layered warm-up gear, skate guards and soakers, a sharpener (and a shop relationship), a towel and blade oil, and a practice-bag. Edges are everything.

Common questions about this kit
Stiff competition boots?
For jumps, yes — a stiff boot supports the ankle through landing forces a recreational boot cannot. Get fitted by a pro shop; the boot, blade, and mount are matched to your weight and level.
Mounted blades separate?
Yes — high-end boots come without blades; the shop mounts and aligns the blade to your skating style. This is not a bolt-on; the blade position is the tuning.
Warm-up layers?
Yes — a zip warm-up jacket and pants over the practice layer, removed after warm-up. Cold muscles tear; a proper warm-up (on and off ice) prevents the injuries that end seasons.
Sharpening for figure skates?
A specialized radius (different from hockey), done by a shop that knows figure skating — a generic sharpening can ruin the blade's rocker. Find a shop and a sharpener you trust.
User Reviews
Figure-skating kit and my ski-touring gear share the pro-shop-fitting gospel — stiff boots and a shop-mounted blade is the same as a bootfitter. Edges are everything.
