What are trade items?
Small trinkets (keychains, coins, toy figures) that you swap — take one, leave one of roughly equal value, and sign the log. Never leave food, and the rule is the cache must always have at least as much as it did. It is the game's economy; kids love it.
What is a travel bug or geocoin?
A trackable item with a goal (e.g., "get to Japan") — you find it, log it, and move it to another cache closer to its goal. You can follow its journey online. Moving a trackable is a special find; never keep one, always pass it on with a log.
Where are caches hidden?
Everywhere — under a bench, behind a sign, in the woods, magnetically under a bridge. The GPS gets you within 20-30 feet; the last part is a search using the hint and the "this looks like a good hiding spot" instinct. It teaches you to see the world as full of secret spots.
